Browser, Device, and Software Compatibility

• DocViewer has been tested with the standard browsers: Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari.

• DocViewer is compatible with both Mac and Windows operating systems
  
  

• DocViewer is built for responsive design and can be used on desktops, laptops, tablets, and phones.

• DocViewer has built-in PDF viewing capabilities.  To view CAD drawings download DWG True View from AutoDesk

Requesting Access

• All PEF employees automatically receive access to this resource.  

• Campus users outside of PEF should have their supervisor request access on their behalf by emailing meridian@austin.utexas.edu . In this communication we ask that he or she include name(s) and EID(s) and a short synopsis of what data they are needing.

• Non-campus users - DocViewer access requires both a high-assurance EID and an active appointment so this resource is unavailable to them.

• Docviewer/Admin can manage access groups which are Standard, High, Infrastructure. Standard is assigned to (PEF) Facilities, Project Management, and Construction units. Higher access groups (High, Infrastructure) can be assigned on a case-by-case basis. TRecs staff granting access must have Staff and Superuser roles assigned to add these groups to individuals requesting access.

Errors:

• DocViewer Clients Losing Access:

  • 2024 some DocViewer users had their profiles deleted and had to re-entered in the Administrator.  

  • In 2022 it was a Stonebranch issue

  • In 2020 it was "A required password to access mainframe data expires approximately every 42 days.  The password needed to be reset and a script run to get the employee data back in place.  We are working on a process improvement to prevent this from happening in the future."
