This page will show you how to record a video of your lecture in the BMC 1.202 Lecture Hall. All of these solutions are relatively untested so we will be recording (3) versions simultaneously so that if something messes up you'll have alternate recordings / backups.

 


Recording 1: MP3 Audio Recorder in AV Rack

Connect a USB stick to the iKey RM3 audio recorder in the rack and press record. All audio from the classroom's microphones as well as the Crestron AV system will be mixed and recorded. The resulting MP3 file can be uploaded after class to Box, Canvas, etc. 


Insert a USB flash drive or an
SD card into the iKey Recorder

Press the RECORD button TWICE
to begin recording.

 

 



Ensure that the elapsed time is advancing.





A RED icon and the elapsed 
time of the recording will display
on the LCD screen

When the lecture is over, press
the STOP button






The file will be processed and the
file will be saved to the USB flash
drive/SD card 

(do not remove the USB flash
drive/SD card until the file has
finished processing)

Connect a USB stick to the Crestron Capture HD recorder in the rack and press record. All video sent to the Left projector / teacher's monitor will be captured. This means that laptop, PC, doccam, etc will all be available for recording. All audio from the classroom's microphones as well as the Crestron AV system will be mixed and recorded. 

The resulting MP4 file can be uploaded after class to Box, Canvas, etc.

: Laptop Screen Record

record laptop content using Snagit software screen recorder (https://www.techsmith.com/snagit.html). Connect an 1/8" audio cable between the teaching console powersphere and your laptop which will route all audio from the classroom's microphones as well as the Crestron AV system into the recording software. All content shown on the laptop will be recorded (but not other AV content like the Doccam, classroom PC, etc) along with the microphone feeds.

The resulting MP4 file can be uploaded after class to Box, Canvas, etc.

When Snagit launches

click on the CAPTURE button

The record console will launch.

Make sure that RECORD SYSTEM AUDIO is OFF

and RECORD MICROPHONE is ON

You can now click the RED Capture button

or use a keyboard shortcut to start a recording

You will now see a READY TO RECORD window.

This will let you verify that your SYSTEM AUDIO is OFF

and that USB Audio Device is being recorded.

You can now press RETURN to start recording.

During a recording the Snagit logo in the menu bar will

turn RED. This gives you a visual that it is recording.

To STOP a recording click on the RED Snagit logo

and then click on Stop Recording.

The recording will be stored in the location

set in Snagit's Preferences.
