Select the amount of the track to insert tone as shown here.

Then go to>AudioSuite>Other>Signal Generator

Make sure that “create continuous file” is selected and then click on Process to create
the tone data.

Hold Down Control/Option/Shift and press 3

A 1k sine wave at -20dB now be printed on your track
