When we refer to paged content in the DAMS we are referring to four different content models:

  1. Publications which are groupings of Issues (typically, but not limited to continuing resources/ serials)
  2. Issues contain Pages
  3. Books which contain Pages (books can contain other books)
  4. Pages are single images representing an individual page

The hierarchical relationship between these resource types and pages allows for better organization of assets.

The following datastreams are used by the system in rigid and defined waysThe following datastreams serve pre-defined functions in the DAMS and are managed by the system. If you want to add a custom datastream do not use one of these IDs, otherwise the system might overwrite custom data

  • System Generated

    • DAMS automatically generates this datastream. If you upload your own file attached to this datastream it may get overwritten. Example: In the case of OCR if you upload your OCR to that datastream and then someone runs the generate OCR on the item your will be overwritten.

  • User Provided

    • You can provide your own datastreams, if you provide a datastream with one of the restricted datastreams expecting to be user provided the system may have special behaviors. Example: In the case of a user provided PDF it will have preference in the system to be displayed.
