Marci has a BS in Physics and Computer Science from Trinity University, and went on to get a master's degree in astronomy Astronomy and astrophysics Astrophysics from Johns Hopkins.
She started her sys admin career in the astronomy department Astronomy Department at UT (where she occasionally got to visit McDonald Observatory, which should be on everyone's list when they visit West Texas, as they have an excellent visitors' program), before moving to CSSB (Center for Systems and Synthetic Biology, one of the precursors to the BRCF), and then to the School of Information. She returned to the BRCF in 2021.
In her spare time, Marci enjoys reading (especially mysteries, sci fi, and fantasy), board games, camping, and anything involving water. She also teaches childbirth classes and enjoys talking about the early postpartum period (and even briefly had hosting a podcast on the subject).
