You might be having a lot of trouble logging in because of google's crazy security. what might have happen happen is when you log in for the first time, you will have to use the SAGA iPhone with you to verify the account. it's incredibly persnickety. or, ask a friend who is already loggedin logged in to help you.
also, try NOT using chrome.

recovery codes are also in the password doc. don't use unless you HAVE to!!!!!!! aka don't be lazy and use them when you could just use iphone.
