This is a one-page guide for Dell Medical School students completing dual degree programs at UT Austin. If you are a third-year student pursuing the MPH, please click here. Dell Medical School operates on a different calendar/registration system from the rest of the university; therefore, we have some unique processes and considerations. Please read on or click through the topics below.

Advising/Registration

Meet with your dual degree program adviser to confirm/indicate which courses you will be taking in the next semester. Your adviser will communicate those courses to your Dell Med third-year coordinator.

You will not be able to register yourself for dual degree courses. Just like all the other Dell Med courses you have taken until this point, Dell Medical School will process your registration each semester.

By the 12th class day, you should see your schedule reflected here: https://utdirect.utexas.edu/registration/classlist.WBX

Note: You will be registered in MED department sections of your dual degree courses. The Department code for your class will always be MED, but the course titles should be the same.

Rosters

As mentioned above, Dell Medical School operates on a different calendar/registration system from the rest of the university; therefore, you will not show up on your instructor's official course roster. If there is any issue or confusion about your enrollment in a course, please rely on your program's graduate coordinator.

Since Canvas courses are automatically populated with students through rosters, please faculty/TAs will add your Dell Medical School dual degree students to your their Canvas course courses manually using their your student UT EID.

Instructions for how to do so are located here.  Please select the SIS ID option (this is for UT EID).

Depending on the date you are adding them to Canvas, they may have missed some pre-course messaging. Please ensure they are able to receive this information before the course begins.

Grades

Since Dell Medical School students will not appear on your official roster for grade submission, you will need to submit grades for them using our alternate method. After clicking on the below link, you will be prompted to log in with your UT EID in order to access the secure grade submission form. It will look similar to the grade reporting form in UT Direct. There is also a file upload option available, after you log in to the form.

UT’s grade deadlines are outlined here. Final grades for classes that have regularly scheduled meeting times but no final examinations are due at the same time they would have been if examinations had been scheduled. That said, we would appreciate your final grades as soon as you have them.

If you find that you have not been added to a course, please contact your professor or your program coordinator.

Grades

Faculty will submit your course grades using Dell Med's alternate method. Depending on the course, it could be for a letter grade or Credit/No-Credit (CR/NCR). Confirm the grading basis for your course with your professor if you are unsure.

Due to system constraints, it is a lengthy, manual process to get

your grades officially submitted to the mainframe.

...

If you are wanting to know your course grade immediately after your course ends, please check Canvas or contact your professor to get your final course grade.

Dell Medical School Students do not receive UT course instructor surveys.
