titleStep 1: SUBMIT A REQUEST TO SEARCH

Submit a Request to Search Form to the Dean's Office for approval. This form must be accompanied by 4 supporting materials:

  1. A Letter of Justification from the chair/director listing:

                a. Description of the teaching responsibilities

                b. Justification of the need for this position in the school/department

                c. Justification of the proposed rank and salary range

                d. Any other relevant information

  2. Any funding commitments received in writing from the provost, dean or other department. 
  3. Copy of the proposed faculty position ad posting

  4. List of search committee members; designating who will serve as the chair of the committee

Write two versions : 1) Long form 2) 200 words or less. Both ad lengths will enable us to share the position far and wife. Be sure to include:

  1. Position Title (tenure or non-tenure, Assistant or Associate Professor, focus, etc.)
  2. Essential Functions

  3. Necessary Experience

  4. Outline Required Skills
  5. Mission of Our Institution
  6. Your Contact Information
  7. Department Website

After you've written and proofed your 2 versions, email them to Tatiana Artis  for posting on the UT Faculty Recruitment Web. Secondly, Tatiana will send you posting information and include a link on the Theatre and Dance website.

titleStep 3: GET IT PUBLISHED OUTSIDE UT

Email both ads to Natasha Small too for online and print publication. Talk to her about the search budget and desired publications. Below are some common ad forums we've used in the past. Know another? Tell us! Once all ads are publised, Natasha will follow up you with a full listing and deadlines for each. It is the the Search Committee Chair's responsibility (that's you) to collect applications, answer questions, and follow up with candidates.
