When to apply?

When do you need to apply for your third-year program? Applications typically open in September of your second year of medical school. This will be during Block 2 of your clerkship year. You will be very busy, so it is important to plan ahead and start thinking about applications early. Get in touch with your program of choice's admissions representative, and find out when their admissions deadlines are.

Transcripts

You will need an official transcript for your dual degree application. Follow the steps below to request yours.

1. Complete this request form: https://registrar.utexas.edu/DMSrequests

2. Leighanne Rodriguez in the Registrar’s Office The Office of the Registrar will process the form and mail to you or the program directly. She can produce bothyour DMS Transcript and your UT Undergrad/Graduate transcript for just one fee of $20. You will need to submit a separate request form for each type of transcript, but you will only be charged one fee if you submit them together.

In some situations, you will need to order a transcript, receive it directly, open it, scan it, and upload it back to the admissions portal yourself.

If you have any questions about your request(s), contact Leighanne.

Admissions Letters

The UT School of Public Health requires that you submit a copy of the admissions letter you received when you were admitted to Dell Medical School. If you do not have a copy of this in your personal files, please email Dell Med Admissions.

GRE/GMAT Scores

Standardized test scores are waived for Dell Medical School third-year applicants.

How many programs should you apply to?

Depending on the year, certain programs may be more competitive than others. If you are applying to the MBA or MSHCT, it would be a good idea to have a solid back-up plan in place. If you are still trying to decide between programs and want to apply early to give yourself more time to decide, you may do that also. Just be sure to decline the offer of admission (if received) as soon as you know what your ultimate decision will be.

How much do third year programs cost?

Please refer to the Tuition page.
