Adding a Mailbox
Open Mail.
From the menu bar, select Mail > Add Account.
Select Exchange, then press Continue.
Enter your name and Microsoft 365 email address, then press Sign In.
When prompted, enter your UT EID (or Microsoft 365 email address) and password and select Sign In.
Complete the multi-factor authentication (MFA) requirement if prompted.
Select the macOS apps you want to use with your account (e.g. Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Reminders, Notes).
Click Done.
Your Mail app should begin syncing your mailbox contents shortly.
Removing a Mailbox
Open Mail.
From the menu bar, select Mail > Settings.
Select Accounts.
Choose your Microsoft 365 account and select Remove.
Known Issues
Cannot open other mailboxes
Mail for macOS does not support opening Microsoft 365 or Exchange mailboxes using alternate credentials. As a consequence, in the vast majority of cases you will only be able to open the mailbox associated with your EID.
As an alternative, we suggest using the Outlook on the web or Outlook for macOS if you require this functionality.
Drafts synchronization issues
In several versions of Mail, multiple copies of draft messages may be saved to the remote mail server in various stages of composition. Additionally, these messages may remain in the Drafts folder even after the message has been sent. These messages are not cleared after synchronizing with the mail server and must be manually deleted. There is no discernible pattern that triggers this issue, and does not occur with all messages.
Types of accounts affected include Microsoft 365, Google (e.g. UTmail), and older .Mac and MobileMe accounts.
Workaround
Disabling the saving of draft messages on the remote mail server resolves the issue. Instead, these draft messages will be stored locally. This can be accomplished by unchecking the Store draft messages on the server option located in Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Mailbox Behaviors for each affected account.
An additional (optional) step is to create a folder in the remote mailbox and manually copy draft messages into it. Messages copied in this way will reliably synchronize with the mail server.
