This document discusses the proper Premiere settings for student packages for the Broadcast Journalism Reporting Texas Newswatch program. If these settings are not used, videos will not play-to-air properly.

This document assumes that students are shooting on Canon XF 100s.

Adobe Premiere Pro - Get Started Using Premiere - Project Setup

Create a new timeline/sequence by clicking on the new item icon

Choose "Sequence..."

Choose "Canon XF MPEG2 > 1080i > Canon XF MPEG2 108030..."

Name your timeline/sequence

Click OK	Image Modified
Your project window should look like this	Image Modified
Unless you have already imported your media. Then it will look more like this	Image Modified
Canon XF footage you will get this error it's okay to ignore it and click OK	Image Modified
WARNING! If you proceed to edit without following the next step, your audio may not work correctly!


Select all of your imported footage From the clip menu choose "Modify > Audio Channels..." or Press Shift + G	Image Modified
Select "Mono" from the "Clip Channel Format" drop down	Image Modified
Set the "Number of Audio Clips:" to 2	Image Modified
Route your audio

Click OK	Image Modified
Drag you clips into the timeline	Image Modified
If you get this warning, choose "Keep existing settings"	Image Modified

Choose "Premiere Pro CC > Preferences > Playback..."	Image Modified
Choose Blackmagic Playback

Click OK	Image Modified
Choose "Premiere Pro CC > Preferences > Audio Hardware..."	Image Modified
Make sure you Preferences look like this	Image Modified
If you get this error click Yes	Image Modified
Click OK
