A digital certificate provides verification to the recipient that the file came from the user or entity identified as the sender, and that it has not been altered since it was signed.  In order to send email or other communication in a way that is secure and validated, you will need to first create a digital signature certificate, import that certificate, and then configure your email client to work with the certificate.
