DROPPING a Course

All students may Drop a Course Online 

WITHDRAWING from ALL Courses

Prior to the mid-semester deadline, students may withdraw for any reason. Please visit the Registration Change System to initiate the withdrawal. You will also be prompted to reach out to cofastudentaffairs@austin.utexas.edu to set up a one-on-one meeting with a Student Affairs staff member. Though their permission is not required to withdraw, they’ll review options, resources, and readmission items with you. 

Late REGISTRATION for ALL students not yet registered ($50 late registration fee added)

Please contact the COFA Office of Student Affairs to begin the registration process.

Late ADDS for NON-THEATRE & DANCE Courses

Please contact the Department offering the course to learn about their late add policy and procedure. For example, contact the History Department for History courses.

Note: Not all late add requests are approved.  If adding this course increases you to over 17 hours, please fill out the Irregular Status Petition online.

  • For T&D Independent Studies:
    Please turn in the completed Independent Study Contract to Mark-Anthony, so he can add the course for you.  No email from faculty is required because their signature is on the form.

  • For T&D Required Courses:
    If you didn't register for a T&D Required course, no email from faculty is required.  Examples include BFA courses or courses you already received consent to add.

  • For Performance or New Works Festival Course Credits:
    To add TD 323P Adv. Projects in Acting & Directing or TD 321P Festival Project & Production, no email from faculty is required.

  • For All Other T&D Courses:
    Contact the instructor of the course to find out if late adds are permitted.
    If consent is received, please forward the email along with the information listed above to TD_Advising@austin.utexas.edu.

Student Outreach and Support
Our office helps students and their families during difficult or emergency situations. Assistance includes outreach, class absence notifications, advocacy, intervention, support, student emergency funds and referrals to relevant campus and community resources. 

  • Emergency situations include but are not limited to: Missing Student, Family Emergency, Fire or Natural Disaster, Medical or Mental Health Concern, Academic difficulties due to crisis or emergency situations, Interpersonal Violence (stalking, harassment, physical and/or sexual assault)
  • UT Outpost is the free on-campus food pantry and career closet for all currently enrolled students at UT Austin. 
  • Class Absence Notification Request 

Student Success Help Desk
The Student Success Help Desk may help students stay on track to graduate and offers students assistance enrolling in classes required to fulfill degree requirements.
