BARCODES (per Ashley, 12/2013)

  1. Search - Barcode, F12, Type in barcode, enter
  2. Check title, confirm book
  3. In the item record right click on Barcode. Select "Edit Field."
  4. In new tab change to "Old Barcode" (g)
  5. CTRL I. (or click insert tab at the top of the screen) Change to "F" -- Tab -- YearMMDD -- Initials -- enter.  
  6. CTRL I. (Insert)  Change to "Barcode" (if not already there) -- tab -- Scan barcode -- enter.  CTRL. S. ALT Q -- enter
  7. Place barcode on back, upper right, not too high
  8. Cross out old barcode label

Changing Barcodes (Tony 10 November 2014)

  1. Change function to search/holds, in barcode mode scan or type in the books existing barcode. If the book has no barcode on it, search the book by title or call number. Open the item record
  2. Right click on the barcode field near the bottom of the item record, choose edit field.
  3. Change b (barcode) to g (old barcode)
  4. Click insert, choose f (barcode change date), type in the date (year month day (no spaces)          : ex. 20141110)
  5. Take a barcode from the roll of barcode stickers, place it on the back upper right side of the book. If there are images, or text there, find a blank space somewhere on the front or back of the book. If there are none place it on the inside of the front cover board. If there are images or text there as well, place it on the 1st blank page.
  6. Click insert again. Choose b (barcode) Scan in the new barcode
  7. Click save, then close the record.
  8. scan the book in the search function to ensure the book matches the record
  9. sharpie out old barcode
