How to access/map ME scan folders on Windows

**You must be on the UT network (wired or wireless) or connected to the UT VPN if off campus to access/map this scan folder.**

Accessing the share folder through File Explorer (see further down for auto-mapping at login)

1. Open Windows File Explorer by clicking on the folder icon on the taskbar or right-click the Windows Start icon and select "File Explorer". 
   

   
   

   
   
   

2. In the address bar at the top of the window type in \\engr-scan.austin.utexas.edu\Scanners\ME-Scan and press Enter. Find the folder you scanned to and double-click to open. Copy/move your file to your desired local or cloud destination.
   

   
   

   

Mapping the scan folder to a persistent drive

Open Windows File Explorer by clicking on the folder icon on the taskbar or right-click the Windows Start icon and select "File Explorer".



In the File Explorer window select "This PC" on the left-hand side and then click the Computer tab and select Map Network Drive.

In In the "Map Network Drive" dialog box:

1. Select any drive letter that you want the folder mapped to (Windows defaults to Z, but you can select any letter in the drop down box).
   
   
   
   
2. Enter the path to the folder you want to map
   1. For staff, use \\engr-scan.austin.utexas.edu\Scanners\ME-Scan\Staff
   2. For faculty, use \\engr-scan.austin.utexas.edu\Scanners\ME-Scan\Faculty
      
      
3. To make the drive persistent so that it is always mapped, check this box to reconnect when you login.
   1. If you are mapping this drive under a non-EID Windows login (nearly everyone should be using Austin Domain/EID logins), you will need to select "Connect using different credentials."
      
      
4. Press Finish and the scan folder should open.
   
   1. If connecting with different credentials, you will be prompted for your EID login at this point. Use austin\eid format for the username.
      
      
5. To verify the folder is mapped properly, go back to File Explorer and select "This PC" and you should see the mapped drive listed under the C: drive.
   1. You can right-click it and select Pin to Quick access, Pin to Start, or Create a Shortcut (on the desktop) for easier access.
