All first and third year students are required to register for and attend CHE 185 in the fall and spring semesters. In this course, all third year students will present their research to the student group, answer questions and receive feedback. There are prizes for the third year presenters voted best by their peers. Credit for this seminar course is attendance-based and students are allowed only 1 absence per semester.
Incoming students should register for CHE 085 in addition to the three required courses. The cross-listed CHE 085 meets simultaneously with CHE 185. Continuing students should register for CHE 185 and an additional 8 credits of research, dissertation, or organized courses. For example, students who have entered doctoral candidacy could register for CHE 185 (1st/3rd year seminar), CHE 399W (dissertation), a three-credit organized course, and CHE 285 (research). An exception is made for continuing students who must register for 9 credits; these students may register for CHE 085. For example, a student may register for CHE 399W (dissertation), CHE 397M (internship), an additional three-credit organized course, and CHE 085.
