ITS has identified a potential issue with the latest version of Cisco’s AMP/Secure Client antivirus software, which can cause unexpected errors with the Cisco Secure Mobility Client VPN application. If you are experiencing issues with the VPN on your Windows machine, please follow these instructions to restore connectivity. 

  1. Request Admin Privileges with MakeMeAdmin
    1. Click on the Windows button and search for MakeMeAdmin
  2. Manually Remove CiscoAMP (via Control Panel|Add/Remove Programs)
  3. Manually Remove AnyConnect (via Control Panel|Add/Remove Programs)
  4. Reboot
  5. Request Admin Privileges with MakeMeAdmin
  6. Activate Windows Defender (prompts for turn on after reboot -- “your computer is unprotected”)
  7. Install Cisco AnyConnect via Software Center
