Open ProTools
    

At the splash screen 


Click >on the "Open" Folder Icon

Then choose Browse

Navigate to the .omf or .aaf file, select it and click open.

Choose the following SessionParameters

Type: Choose the Session Tab
   
Audio File Type:
.BWF (.WAV)
       
24 BIT
            
Sample Rate:
48 kHz

Bit Depth choose - 24

Click on the >Navigation link next to Local Storage to choose where to save your protools session

>Choose Browse

Location > Navigate to where you want to save the session > Choose Open 

Double Check all the settings and then>

Click on Create to open the session

In the next window make sure all tracks are selected for import and

check import clip gain and import automation and “Uncheck”

(pan odd tracks left and even tracks right) Settings look like this:

MAKE SURE that “Copy from source media” is selected in Audio Media Options.

Click OK to start import

On the next screen choose not to save a report. (if that dialog appears)
            
                      
                     
              
The Protools Session will open and all the tracks will appear as they did in the video project.

Now click on >Setup>Session and make sure the frame rate is
consistent with the frame rate of your Final Cut or AVID video project. Turn pulldown on ONLY if you worked in AVID in a 24 (not 23.98 but 24) frame project.

Clock Source Sync HD (if in an HD suite)

Import the QuickTime movie to chase in the ProTools project.

Go to >File>Import>Video and navigate to the QuickTime file saved on the storage drive and select it.

Navigate to the QuickTime Movie that you made

Click Open

Video Import Options

>Location Choose:  Session Start

Choose to Import the audio from the QuickTime so you can check sync

Choose the default location of where to save the audio files.  It will always choose the current session's audio files folder.

Click Open

Check to make sure that the session is in sync with the video.
Play the Protools session and watch the QuickTime to check sync.

You can add quarter frames to the Video Sync Offset but usually not necessary to sync up

image and sound.  This was common with DV-NTSC but no usually not necessary when using HD QuickTimes
