All first-year ChE graduate students are required to attend the departmental seminar and register for CHE 080D in the fall and spring semesters. In the case of a course conflict, students may defer the seminar requirement to the next year. Inform the Graduate Advisor if you are unable to register for CHE 080D for fall and/or spring semesters.  

Students can miss NO MORE than TWO seminars per semester. 

• A grade of "NC" (No Credit) will show on the student record if they miss 2 or more seminars 
• If a student receives a grade of NC (No Credit) they are required to register for the seminar course the following semester
• Every student MUST SIGN IN at each seminar meeting! 

Schedule of speakers for the departmental seminar series 

• Students should check the schedule regularly because names and dates are added frequently.
• Attendance of graduate seminars is a critical part of graduate education and development in our program. The Department Chair and Graduate Adviser expect students to attend in person.

Incoming students are required to register for CHE 080D in addition to the three required courses. Samples listed below:

Example of Fall schedule - CHE 080D (Seminar), CHE 387K (Thermo), CHE 391J (Kinetics), and 3 hour Elective = 9 hours 

Example of Spring schedule - CHE 080D (Seminar), CHE 381N (Transport), 3 hours of Research, and 3 hour elective = 9 hours
