Configure Jira Service Desk Issue Type Screen

Once you've created a new JSD issue type, you'll need to configure its Screen and Workflow. The Field Configuration will stay as the default, Jira Service Desk Field Configuration for Project EMBS HR.

The order is important so we'll start by creating a new screen

  1. Navigate to Jira Screens page. To do this from the Issue types page. Select ActionsEdit issue types→ Select Screens for the left navigation bar


  2. Select Add screen



  3. Populate Name and Description and select Add. Prefix all added Screens with EMBSHR Jira Service Desk.



  4. Once the new Screen is added you'll need to add any existing fields you want associated with the issue type. Don't worry about custom fields yet, we'll add those later.
    Make sure you always add Summary to new screens. (need to double-check is true)


  5. Next, we need to create a new Screen scheme so that we can associate a screen with an issue type. Navigate to Screen schemes located in the left navigation bar. Select Add screen scheme.

  6. Populate Name (Prefix with EMBSHR Jira Service Desk) and Description. Default Screen should be the screen you just created.


  7. For now, let's ignore associating different issue operations with a different screen. We'll always use the default regardless of operation.

  8. Lastly, we need to associate the issue type with the existing screen scheme. Navigate to Issue type screen schemes located in the left navigation and scroll until you find EMBSHR: Jira Service Desk Issue Type Screen Scheme. Select Configure.


  9. Select Associate an issue type with a screen scheme. Select the created issue type and the created screen scheme.
