Dimensions

Objects should be measured by registrars to confirm accuracy. Dimensions provided by outside parties must be verified before publishing.

Dimensions should be entered in order from largest element to smallest. For framed objects, this element should be listed first. Use the up and down arrows in the top right of the dimensions table to re-order elements.

Dimension elements indicate what dimensions of the object are being measured and there is a drop-down menu of choices, for instance, “sheet” or “diameter.”

If the measurements do not correspond to any options in the choice list, select “additional dimensions” and add a description in the Description field. In the case of prints, sheet size is the dimension that is normally chosen as the publicly displayed dimension, and framed dimensions are prioritized when an object is permanently framed.

Click the ellipses button next to the display dimension field to push updated dimension elements to the display field. Non-public dimension elements can be unchecked in the rightmost column of the table to be excluded from the display field.

If origin of dimensions is unknown or unconfirmed it can be entered as free text. Format with abbreviated unit at the end: 65 x 45 in. (165.1 x 114.3 cm)

If there is more than one set of dimensions for the object, such as plate size, image size, frame size, or something else, those are added as additional elements.

For additional dimensions that do not need to be included in the display caption, uncheck the display box at the right-hand column of the dimension table. Click the ellipses button next to the display field to push changed dimensions into the display text.

Dimensions should be entered to closest 16th or 8th of an inch.

Duration/Running time

Select Duration element type and enter full time in seconds. Convert duration from minutes to seconds outside of TMS. Standard display will appear as “5 minutes, 15 seconds”.

“Dimensions variable” may be used when the exact dimensions of an installation or projection vary or are unknown. Web projects and single-channel videos presented on monitors do not require dimensions.
