Challenging Behaviors

Amy

  • Observe and document concerns

  • Consult with colleagues

  • Conduct a functional behavior assessment (with Stephanie's support)

  • Collaborate with child's family

  • Revise the plan

  • Implement the plan

  • Evaluate and revise regularly

-Examples: screaming, biting, hitting, etc.

While challenging, many of these are normative behavior for early childhood and children are using behaviors to communicate a need.
