The College of Education provides a Lactation/Quiet Room located in SZB 2.208. To obtain access to the LQR please go to the ITO Service Desk in SZB 2.110 and request access.

The room is meant to conform to established UT practices for such rooms. More information can be found on the Human Resources employee services web site.

Key

The key to the room is standardized across campus.  The ITO Service Desk has one key to the LQR, and ITO employees will be responsible for opening the room when a need arises.

Lactation/Quiet Room - Use Guidelines

This Lactation/Quiet Room (L/QR) is for people who are lactating and for others requiring rest for medical reasons related to a non-contagious condition. This L/QR is for use by students, faculty, and staff of The University of Texas at Austin. 

Employee Use of the Room During Work Hours:   You need to obtain your supervisor’s approval to be away from your work station during your usual work hours.  If you do not want to tell your supervisor that you are using the L/QR during work hours, you will need to take accrued leave time to do so. 

Room Use: 

• The room can be utilized for a maximum of one hour at a time. Please do not use the room longer than necessary in order to make this available to as many people as possible. 
• To sign up to use the room and to access the key, go to the ITO Service Desk in SZB2.110.
• Access to the room is on a first come, first served basis.
• If your need for the room conflicts with someone else, you will need to negotiate with that person about room use. We encourage open communication and flexibility so the room can be fairly utilized.

Room Hours: 

The room generally will be available when the ITO Service Desk is open, Monday through Thursday, 8:30am – 6:45pm, and Friday 8:30am – 4:45pm. Available hours may become limited when the ITO Service Desk is closed for University holiday breaks and Spring Break.

Refrigeration:  Refrigeration provided in the room.

Sink:  There is a sink available in this room, as well as bathrooms located directly across the hall.

Room Cleaning:  Please leave the room in clean condition and notify ITO Service Desk staff if additional cleaning is needed.
