EWC has adopted the ISO 50001 as the framework for an Energy Management System, as outlined in the following chart.

Maintain-Operate-Optimize

The Energy and Water Conservation (EWC) group has adopted the Maintain-Operate-Optimize Plan as the basic roadmap towards sustained optimization and energy conservation. As building performance across campus is measured and projects evaluated, attention is devoted first to ensuring that there is a sufficient maintenance base from which to correctly operate the building, and then sufficient operational knowledge to support further optimization. And, once optimized, support of maintenance must continue to sustain the optimization.
