Locations + Library Spaces
For locations across campus, please use UT Maps. You can search by the building code. For UT Libraries locations, visit the Locations page of the website.
The Explore Spaces page on the UTL website is great for finding library spaces based on location, noise level, etc. across campus. This page is particularly helpful if you have questions such as "Where can I find a quiet space to study for chemistry exam?" or "Where can we have our group meeting?"
Some of the most popular spaces in PCL include:
Group Study Rooms: The PCL Group Study rooms are reservable spaces for groups of 2 or more. They include movable furniture, whiteboards and power outlets.
Presentation Practice Rooms: The PCL Presentation Practice rooms are private, reservable spaces where groups of 2 or more can collaborate and practice presentations through Airmedia or projector display. These rooms contain movable furniture, whiteboards, power outlets, and projector or TV displays with HDMI/USB or wireless connectivity.
Interview Practice Room: This room contains a computer with a webcam and a phone for students to use for job interviews. This space is reservable for only one student to use for interview purposes. Students must sign out the key at the desk.
Public Speaking Center: The Sanger Learning Center and the School of Undergraduate Studies have partnered with the UT Libraries to provide free public speaking support for all UT students. It is open Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 7 pm by appointment.
Media Lab: The PCL Media Lab provides hardware and software to create audio, video, still and 3D animation projects. Students, faculty and staff can use the equipment on a first-come, first-served basis. View use policy and request form for course use here.
Computer Lab: This lab, located on the entry level of PCL, includes PC workstations. These workstations provide users with access to the Internet and online library resources, plus Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and other specialized software. This area also offers flatbed scanners.
Library Copier Services: Copier Services is located on the first floor just to the left when people get down the stairs. This is where users will pick up posters they have printed, send faxes ($1/page charge), and redeem funds from an old copy card if they have one.
Map Room: The Map Room consists of the UTL Map Collection. There are tables available for study.
UFCU Room: This room is primarily intended to be a learning and study space for UT students, faculty, and staff. Reservations for events are considered on a case-by-case basis in light of the time of the semester and number of existing reservations. Approval of all reservations is at the discretion of the UT Libraries administration.
STEM Learning Spaces: The four STEM Learning Spaces, which each seat 8-12 people, are booked by partners in the College of Natural Sciences (CNS) and Engineering for tutoring in specific STEM classes. When they are not booked, they are open for individual or collaborative study by any student. Each space features large whiteboards and moveable furniture.
STEM Study Area: Study area open to all students, including those in STEM courses.
CalcLab: The Mathematics Department is offering students enrolled in calculus courses at UT the chance to receive help and work with classmates in a room that's open five days a week for the afternoon and evening. The lab will be staffed by current mathematics graduate students (including your calculus TA), as well as advanced undergraduate Learning Assistants.
UT Poetry Center: The UT Poetry Center, home to the Ruth Stephan Poetry Collection, is a diverse collection of poetry unique to the University of Texas Libraries.
Scholars Commons Silent Study Area: The main room in our Scholars Commons is dedicated to silent study when not being used for presentations and symposia. Designed with a variety of needs in mind, the goal was to create a space where any serious scholar would find a spot to be contemplative and productive.
Scholars Commons Study Rooms: These rooms are only available to UT graduate students.
Graduate Landing Spot: Located at the far end of the Scholars Commons and accessible by UT ID cards, the Graduate Landing Spot offers a kitchenette, lounge areas and media-equipped, reservable meeting rooms for UT graduate students. These rooms may be used for group study and meetings with other graduate students, and consultations with UT Libraries staff.
Scholars Commons Exhibits: Exhibits at the Scholars Commons @PCL provide an excellent opportunity for the Libraries to engage in collaborative and interdisciplinary projects, especially with graduate students, faculty members and others in the University community. Exhibits have a permanent presence in our online repository, Texas ScholarWorks.
