Taking Calibrations
Calibration frames (flats, darks, arcs) are fairly straightforward with IGRINS.
In the upper-right corner of the Data Taking Software you select the type, number, and exposure times.
The number of fowler-samples in the H and K exposure boxes will be the default for the calibration frames, so set these before you press 'Run Calibration Mode'.
The default calibration frame settings are still being tested, but we recommend:
NOTE: Take the dark frames only at the beginning of the night!!
Type | exposure time (s) | number | Number of Fowler Reads |
---|---|---|---|
Dark | 30 | 10 | 16 |
Flat off | 30 | 10 | 16 |
Flat | 30 | 10 | 16 |

Then in a second set, with a different fowler number: | |||
ThAr | 3 | 1 | |
UNe | 3 | 1 |
