This is the process for connecting to the network drive owned by the LASE group.

There is currently one drive: lase-nas-1.mer.utexas.edu. This drive has one shared folder called LASEData. Additionally, users can create their own private folders (note: administrators of the NAS can still see them).

For now, please only connect the drive to workstations/computers that are directly on the UT Austin network.

Procedure for connecting to LASEData

1. Open a file explorer window and navigate to This PC.

2. Click on the 3 dots next to View and select Map network drive.

3. Open

   

   In the next menu fill out the Folder with \\lase-nas-1\LASEData

   1. Open

      

      You can use any drive letter

   2. The first lase-nas-1 is the drive hostname. The LASEData is the shared folder name

   3. This will attempt to connect using the same credentials you use to log into UT computers. If it does not work, ask ECE IT to add you to the Bank ADS group.

4. For now, the LASEData folder will be shared among all users in the group. Please make your own subfolder with your initials i.e BDA.

   1. The folder should be used for persistent storage. Please avoid using it as a workspace, don’t run simulations or anything requiring a lot of disk read/writes on the folder directly.

Procedure for creating/connecting to a private folder

IT has set up the NAS to work with our UT EID and automatically create folders that can be accessed with those credentials.

1. With a computer connected to the UT network open a browser and go to: lase-nas-1.mer.utexas.edu:5001

2. In the login prompt, use your EID credentials

3. After you are logged in, it will automatically create a user folder for you: \\lase-nas-1\homes\@DH-AUSTIN
