Cooperating Teachers
Responsibilities: Observations (Interns)
Guides, assists, and supports the Intern.
In all interactions, treat the Intern as a professional.
Must sign the Intern’s Observation & Lesson Verification Form at the end of the observation period.

Responsibilities: Student Teaching
Guides, assists, and supports the student during the student's clinical teaching including co-teaching models and in areas such as planning, classroom management, instruction, assessment, working with parents, obtaining materials, district policies, etc.
In all interactions, treat the Student Teacher as a professional.
Acquaint the Student Teacher with materials and resources available in the school on the first day or soon thereafter.
Require lesson plans from the Student Teacher in advance of the actual teaching. Review these plans carefully, recommend revisions as needed, and approve final plans prior to implementation.
Work with Student Teacher to develop a Student Plan that leads to 2 weeks of “total teach” at each placement.
Encourage the Student Teacher to be creative and to try new teaching strategies.
Conduct weekly cooperative planning sessions with the student teacher.
Observe the Student Teacher teaching on a regular basis and provide a written copy (STOT Form) of the observations to both the student teacher and university field supervisor.
Provide an organized feedback session for each observation (in addition to incidental observations and remarks) and provide the student teacher and university field supervisor with a written summary of the feedback session (3-Person Conference).
Complete student teaching evaluation forms; STOT forms throughout, the Formative Assessment at mid-semester (end of Placement #1) and the Summative Assessment at the end of the semester (end of Placement #2). Cite specific examples of the observed behaviors as supporting evidence and submit the form electronically. Discuss each evaluation with the student teacher.

Training & Qualifications
Cooperating Teacher-- an educator who is collaboratively assigned by the educator preparation
program (EPP) and campus administrator.
Must have at least 3 years of teaching experience.
Shall be an accomplished educator as shown by student learning.
This is justified by the completion of the CT Agreement that includes the checklist of Cooperating Teacher Characteristics for Quality Field Placements, which is signed by the CT’s Principal.
The CT Agreement is included in the attached Appendix, Pg 38
Has completed Cooperating Teacher Mentor Training within the first three weeks of the student teaching placement.
Mentor Training is managed by the UTeach Program Coordinator.
UT Education Services offers mentor training online. The link is sent out by the UTeach Program Coordinator.
The CT is awarded CPE Clock Hours for the completion of the Mentor Training.
Is currently certified in the certification category for the clinical teaching assignment for
which the clinical teacher candidate (student) is seeking certification.
Box Access & Correspondence
BOX access is not required of Cooperating Teachers, unless otherwise instructed by the Area Coordinator. They will NOT have access to UPLOAD documents. All documents will be sent to the Field Supervisor for review.
Per FERPA, a secure school email account must be used for confidential correspondence between Field Supervisors, Cooperating Teachers, Students, Area Coordinators and Program Coordinator. This includes all UT email accounts and ISD email accounts.
Honorariums (Cooperating Teacher)
Remittance of Honorariums will occur at the end of the placement once all necessary documents have been received and reviewed by the Program Coordinator. Once approved by the Program Coordinator, the Invoice must be signed by the Cooperating Teacher via DocuSign, reviewed by the UTFA Business Office, and then reviewed by the UT Main Business Office before the Honorarium will be dispersed. Please allow two to four weeks from the end of document review for remittance of Honorarium.
Documents Due: December 16th for the Fall Semester and May 15th for the Spring Semester.
