Letters and Petitions

The Graduate Administrator prepares letters and petitions for various reasons. If you find yourself in need of a letter or petition, please allow a three business day turnaround time to prepare the letter or petition. 

Examples of circumstances that may require letters:

  • Degree requirement verification

  • Internationally residing family invitation to graduation

 

Examples of circumstances that require petitions:

  • Late add/drop of courses

  • Late grade status change

  • Late registration

  • GPA below the 3.0 minimum (or not yet constituted) for academic employment

 

Letters provided by other offices on campus:

  • Verification of employment is provided by the Human Resources Office

  • Enrollment certifications are provided by the Registrar's Office 

  • Degree completion letters may be provided by the Graduate School after submission of the dissertation and final paperwork, but before degree certification. Contact gradstudentsvcs@austin.utexas.edu.
