Pro Tools - CMB 2.124 A - How to Setup For a Atmos or Surround Sound Mix Session

  1. Power on Crestron Panel

  2. Press Un-Muted and

  3. Click on REF Levl

  4. Foley TV Program should be what you want selected. This will put image on the TV in the Foley room as well as un-mute the mic input

Restart the computer - Recommended!

Click on the power icon in the top Right corner, then select "Restart" from the dropdown menu

Helpful to add the Macintosh HD and Storage Volumes to the Finder Sidebar

Click on Finder in the Dock

Check the Comm-A Computer

Hard disks

and External disks

Check boxes

IMPORTANT - MAKE SURE ProTools is closed. Sometimes the app auto opens - If this is the case the templates for RedNet will not load.

Open >Applications>RedNet Control 2

Close this window do not need to go through the set up wizard.

Red 8 will show it’s connected - Select Add to tab here

Open the Templates Do Not Erase folder

The Red 8 Line I/O control will open the appropriate settings for the Foley session

You should see the Red8Line-000189aa

 

>Click OK here

Next Open ProTools

When ProTools Opens click on CANCEL don’t setup a new session we are going to do additional I/O setup FIRST

Go to >Setup>I/O

Click on Apply to all tabs check box

Navigate to >ProTools Foley Suite Workdrive>Session Set Tes Projects Do Not Erase>Atmos >Room Tuning – Atmos >Atmos Templates >Import the Atmos - Foley I/O.pio

Select Foley io.pio

>Click Open

Choose Yes to Replace existing busses

Note if the settings don’t match make sure you had “Apply To All Tabs” checked

Navigate to >ProTools Foley Suite Workdrive>Session Set Tes Projects Do Not Erase>Atmos >Room Tuning – Atmos > Atmos - Room Tuning - Atmos

>Click Open

You should see the Video Clip on the big Sony TV in the mix room.

If you do not see any video then check to see if the BlackMagic Ultrastudio is connected.

Go to Macintosh HD>Applications>Blackmagic Desktop Video open

Desktop Video Setup and you should see

UltraStudio 4K Mini connected

 

If you do not then try restarting the computer after saving your work in ProTools

ProTools Atmos Session

Go to the Tracks and twrill down the DOLBY PINK tracks

Make sure the volume is a REF level (3)

To see the Dolby Window

>Window>Dolby Atmos Renderer

Make sure the Dolby Atmos Renderer is set to 7.1.4

Play the pink noise section of the session and check speaker levels

Solo each channel and make sure each one is at 79 at REF level

Solo L, C, R, Lss, Rss, Lsr, Rsr, LFE, LtSum and RtSum

When finished recording the session

Go to File >Save session

Then Quit ProTools and copy the session and recorded audio files to box or make sure they are on your hard drive to take with you for editing or mixing.

Turn System off when finished
