Pro Tools - CMB 2.124 C - How to Setup For a Atmos or Surround Sound Mix Session

Restart the computer - Recommended! Click on the power icon in the top Right corner, then select "Restart" from the dropdown menu |
|
IMPORTANT - MAKE SURE ProTools is closed. Sometimes the app auto opens - If this is the case the templates for RedNet will not load. | |
Open >Applications>RedNet Control 2 | |
If you get this window - Close this window do not need to go through the set up wizard. |
|
Red 8 will show it’s connected - Select Add to tab here | |
Next go to >File >Device Load |
|
Click on No here
|
|
Navigate to >Macintosh HD>Users>Shared>
Open the Templates Do Not Erase folder |
|
Open the CMB2124C Snapshot 09112025 The Red 8 Line I/O control will open the appropriate settings for the ProTools session |

When you load the snapshot You should see the Red8Line-000189aa
>Click OK here |
|
Next Open ProTools |
|
Click OK here |
|
Click Allow here |
|
Click Next here |
|
Choose the Red 8Line as the Playback Engine
Click OK |
|
When ProTools Opens click on CANCEL don’t setup a new session we are going to do additional I/O setup FIRST |
|
Go to >Setup>I/O |
|
Click on Apply to all tabs check box Then click on Import Settings
|
|
Navigate to >Macintosh HD>Users>Shared> Open the Templates Do Not Erase folder>select the CMB2124_10142025.pio file >Click Open |
|
Choose Yes to Replace existing busses |
|
The correct I/O Setup will open and this is how the Output Tab should look
Note if the settings don’t match make sure you had “Apply To All Tabs” checked
|

Press OK to close |
|
Then open Session
|
|
Click Open From Drive At the bottom of the window

Navigate to >Macintosh HD>Users>Shared> Open the Templates Do Not Erase folder>Room Tuning Atmos - Room Tuning - Atmos.ptx >Click Open |

Click Yes Here | |
Click Yes here to enable the Dolby Renderer | |
You should see the Video Clip on the big Sony TV in the mix room. If you do not see any video then check to see if the BlackMagic Ultrastudio is connected. Go to Macintosh HD>Applications>Blackmagic Desktop Video open Desktop Video Setup and you should see

open Desktop Video Setup and you should see the UltraStudio 4K Mini connected
If you do not then try restarting the computer after saving your work in ProTools |

ProTools Atmos Session Go to the Tracks and twirl down the DOLBY PINK tracks
|
|
To see the Dolby Window >Window>Dolby Atmos Renderer | |
Make sure the Dolby Atmos Renderer is set to 5.1.2 |
|
Play the pink noise section of the session and check speaker levels Solo each channel and make sure each one is at 79 at REF level Solo L, C, R, Lss, Rss, Lsr, Rsr, LFE, LtSum and RtSum | |

When finished recording the session Go to File >Save session Then Quit ProTools and copy the session and recorded audio files to box or make sure they are on your hard drive to take with you for editing or mixing. |

Turn System off when finished |
