Blackmagic Design Replay - Instant Replay Setup and Workflow
Mac Replay Laptop | The user name and password is on Stache called Replay Laptop |
Once you log into the laptop Make sure WiFi is off | |
Make sure the DaVinci Replay Editor is connected via USBC to the mac Laptop | |
Replay server >Go>Connect to Server |

Type in
Connect
Choose to connect as guest |
|
Mount the REPLAY server
Click on it on the sidebar finder | |
Select so it highlights and then login as Guest | |
The REPLAY server Will mount to desktop | |
On the laptop open >Blackmagic HyperDeck>Blackmagic HyperDeck Setup | |
When Hyperdeck setup opens click on List View | |
Check the boxes to select Cameras 1 – 4
Click the Record button at the bottom to set all to record | |
Open Davinci Resolve | |
Create a REPLAY project in Resolve using the recommended settings from the Resolve Manual it 502/513 how to setup a Resolve project for replay >Or
Open REPLAY TEST project already created or you can download from the link here. | |
If you don’t have the Replay project in resolve you can import it from the download link above
Click on Import |

Choose the file and click on Open |
|
Once project is open go to >Davinci Resolve >Preferences |
|
>Video and Audio I/O Make sure both Capture device and Monitor device are set to UltraStudio 4K Mini |

Have to be in the CUT Tool in Resolve | |
Set the interface to be in “Timeline” mode | |

To see the cameras click on >Replay Controls | |
Then click on the left arrow icon to see Input View | |
Click on the Import Media Folder button | |
Click on >REPLAY>REPLAY folder >Click on Open | |
When files come in make sure there is a red record button in all the boxes.
In this example all 4 cameras are showing the red record icon in the upper left of the monitor | |
BUT for Example if only two sources showing record you want to delete The cameras 2 and 3 and then just drag them in from the finder level to the resolve bin and historically that will show the RED record icon in the montor | |
Next make sure we are in REPLAY and Input View
You can also click Input View on the BMC controller button | |
You can also click Input View on the BMC controller button | |
Make sure Live Speed button is lit RED It is the button at the top of the slider to control how fast the replay will play back | |
Clear the Set POI button by double tapping it so it’s not illuminated RED >Click Set POI to set a replay mark to play back a segment |

Note the Orange POI that was set | |
Here are the steps in order 1. Set POI 2. RUN 3. Choose the seconds of how far back you want to go 4. Choose a Camera and 5. Set the slider on how slow the replay plays back 6. Click Dump to exit REPLAY | Step by Step screen-grabs to follow in the wiki

Press RUN key | |
Choose how many seconds back you want to cue the pre-roll | |
Choose what camera you want to play back | |
You will see the Replay on the monitor controlled by the live speed fader of how slow you want it go play | |
Click Dump to exit out of that REPLAY point to set another POI | |
Can also click on DUMP on the keyboard | |
Click on Clear the SET POI but clicking on it twice | |
When finished Hit stop on the Hyperdecks to stop recording Quit the Hyperdeck setup

Remove the REPLAY Bin from the Resolve project >Quit Resolve |
|
Delete all the files from the REPLAY folder that were recorded | |
Delete these files |
