This page details teaching awards administered by the university, the UT system, or an external entity. Many of these awards require that nominations are first submitted to the college for review. College level requirements are detailed for each award. For in-depth details and required materials for each award, please visit the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost webpage.
Information is effective for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Please note that COLA deadlines for university-wide teaching awards differ from those posted on the Provost/UT System sides. All nominations that require COLA review must be submitted to COLA by the COLA Deadlines.
III. University-Wide Teaching Awards
COLA Deadline: Monday, March 2, 2026
Eligibility: Open to professional track only.

Nomination packets are limited to 10 pages total (not including the cover page).
The two letters of support are limited to 3 pages combined. If the submitted nomination exceeds this limit, you will be expected to revise the packet.

This award is student-nominated and does not require review by the COLA dean’s office.
COLA Deadline: not open for AY 25-26 (this award only opens every three years).

Piper nomination materials differ from other awards
Nominees must submit the Piper Professor Award Nomination Form (nominee completes Part A and Part B; Dean's Office will add additional info to Part 3A after the rest of the packet is submitted)
In addition to the two-part form, up to five letters of recommendation may also be submitted as part of the nomination. Letters may be from members of the administration, colleagues, and/ or from current and former students.
