Trainings
Most of our equipment requires training for use. In order to get training, visit our portal and navigate to the TRAININGS tab.
Many machines have a 2-part training:
1) An online training and quiz, and
2) An in-person practical demonstration

3D Printing Training
About
To gain access to TIW's 3D printers, please visit the TRAININGS page on our portal, and complete the online training, and come to Texas Inventionworks to get an in-person training, which we offer every EVEN hour while open. A powerpoint is posted here as an extra resource. Make sure to bring your computer for the in-person training!
Resources
- Link to extra PowerPoint for step-by-step guide (some parts may be outdated)
- It is recommended to download our staff developed CraftBot Presets for PLA and PETG.
- A link to a failed print Troubleshooting Guide.
- A link to the Fusion 360 Download. Make an account with your @utexas.edu email.
- We highly recommend viewing the Fusion 360 Video Tutorials to learn and develop your CAD skills.
- Here is a link to a program for designing boxes and then cutting them on a laser (faster and better than using a filament printer) : https://www.festi.info/boxes.py/
Do not print 'boxes' on filament printers - it takes a long time and most often fails. Use the laser cutters for boxes and the nifty application for creating them.
