All first-year ChE graduate students are required to attend the departmental seminar and register for ChE 085 in the fall and spring semesters. In the case of a course conflict, students may defer the seminar requirement to the next year. A Student can miss no more than two seminars per semester.
Incoming students should register for CHE 085 in addition to the three required courses. Students who have entered doctoral candidacy could register for CHE 185 (departmental seminar), CHE 399W (dissertation), a three-credit organized course, and CHE 285 (research). An exception is made for continuing students who must register for 9 credits; these students may register for CHE 085. For example, a student may register for CHE 399W (dissertation), CHE 397M (internship), an additional three-credit organized course, and CHE 085.
