How to print sensitive information.

Printing Sensitive Information


What if I have to print sensitive information that shouldn't sit on the copier? You'll use something called Secure Print.  You must have already set up normal printing using the instructions above.

MacOS

  1. Open the file you need to print securely and click File, Print.

  2. In some applications, such as Preview, you may have to click "Show Details" to choose Secure Print.  Applications like Word do not require this extra step.

  3. Select "Output Method" in the Print Dialog drop down.

  4. Change the Output Method from Print to Secure Print.
  5. Enter your first name as the Document ID. Enter a temporary password that you will remember at the copier in the Password field.
  6. Click OK.

  7. Click Print.
  8. On the Printer, select Secure Print.
  9. Enter your first name and the temporary password you entered earlier.
  10. Select the document you wish to print, then tap "Print".
  11. Press the Start button, and your selected document should begin printing.

Windows

  1. Open the document you need to print securely.  Go to the File > Print page, and click "Printer Properties".

  2. Under Output Method, change the drop down menu selection from Print to Secure Print.
  3. Enter your first name as the Document ID. Enter a temporary password that you will remember at the copier in the Password field.
  4. Click OK to close the Printer Properties Window.
  5. Click Print.
  6. On the Printer, select Secure Print.
  7. Enter your first name and the temporary password you entered earlier.
  8. Select the document you wish to print, then tap "Print".
  9. Press the Start button, and your selected document should begin printing.

How to print 1-sided

MacOS

  1. Open the file you need to print 1-sided and click File, Print.
  2. In some applications, such as Preview, you may have to click "Show Details" to change this setting.  Applications like Word do not require this step.
  3. Select "Layout / Finish" in the Print Dialog drop down.

  4. Change the Print Type from 2-Sided to 1-sided.

  5. Click Print.
  6. To save 1-sided printing as your default, complete the following steps:
    1. repeat steps 1-4
    2. click the "Presets" drop-down
    3. click "Save as Preset"
    4. Title your preset and save
    5. After saving these settings as a preset, make sure your new preset is selected and while holding down the "Option" key on your keyboard, click "Print"

Windows

  1. Open the document you need to print 1-sided.  Go to the File > Print page, and click "Printer Properties".

  2. Go to the "My Tab" tab, if you aren't already there.

  3. Change Print Type from 2-Sided to 1-Sided.

  4. Click OK to close the Printer Properties Window.
  5. Click Print.
