Submission Workflow
3DS Max
- For 3DS MAx, first go to Render Setup to select settings for output file and type.
- Under the "Common" tab, select "Save File" under "Render Output" and map the file to \\soa-data.austin.utexas.edu\render\Student work\YOURINITIALS\ifl
- Assign renderer (i.e., Vray, Mental Ray, etc).
- Close out of dialogue box.
- Under the Royal Render menu (RRender in the menu bar), select "Submit Scene". A new window (rrSubmitter) will open.
Royal Render Submitter
Expand the sub-category "Scene Settings":
- Under "Sequence" set the range of frames to render (It staff recommends testing small batches before submitting entire file for rendering).
- Verify the Image Dir to be mapped to \\soa-data\3ds\Student work\YOURINITIALS\ifl as created above.
- Verify and/or modify the FileName as desired.
- Verify the file type extension as Bitmap (.bmp) or OpenEXR (.exr) and that the box for "Single ouput file" is UNCHECKED.
Under the sub-category "Clients", assign your job to clients (workstations) as desired. By selecting all, the job will be dispersed among the clients to maximize render time.
If you wish to delay the start of the job, you can select the start time under "Wait" or specify to wait for another job to complete before submitting.
Leave all other settings as default.
Submit Job! (button is located in the bottom left-hand corner of window)
To observe the status of your render, open http://soa-render/ in your web browser.
Once all image files are complete, open the Virtual Dub software to combine files into single animation.
