Rodriguez Lab - Remote Desktop Services - Demo Server
Demo Server - Do Not Use With Confidential Data
This is a temporary proof-of-concept server setup to demo the proposed Remote Desktop Services server configuration for Dr. Rodriguez's lab.
Only use this server to test functionality and do not use it with confidential data. This server and all data on it will be deleted once the demo period ends.

Shared Folder
A folder has been created on the server to allow for users of the server to share files. Use this folder when you want to collaborate and share files with other users of the server. The folder is on the C drive and is named: C:\_Shared Files\
Connecting to the Server from a Windows Computer
IMPORTANT: Off-Campus Users Must First Connect to the UT VPN
If you are off-campus then you must first connect to the UT VPN service. If you do not do this first, the steps below will not work.
Open the "Remote Desktop Connection" Client program. On a Windows 10 computer the program is located in the Start menu under the "Windows Accessories" folder.
Connect to educ-vm-rds-tst.austin.utexas.edu in the Remote Desktop Connection client. | |
Confirm that you want to trust this server. | |
Enter your EID credentials with AUSTIN\ in front of your username. Then press the OK button to connect to the server.

Connecting to the Server from a Mac Computer

Open the Microsoft Remote Desktop app. This is included with the latest version of Microsoft Office for Mac or it can be downloaded and installed from the following link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/microsoft-remote-desktop/id1295203466?mt=12. | |
Click on the Microsoft Remote Desktop app's top menu bar icon. In the window that appears, select the "Add PC" option. | |
In the "PC name" field enter: educ-vm-rds-tst.austin.utexas.edu Then press the "Add" button. | |
Locate the PC you created in the previous step. Once found double-click on it to open it. | |
Enter your UT EID credentials with AUSTIN\ in front of your username. Then press the "Continue" button. Your computer should then initiate a Remote Desktop connection to the server.
