Robotics Policies
Updated Feb 11

    Robotics Policies

You must purchase a Digital Fabrication Subscription for the semester in order to gain access to Robotics certifications. This equipment is only available to Staff, Faculty and Students enrolled with the School of Architecture.

    Safety

Only certified individuals may use the robots.

Once certified, there are several rules and safety factors that must be followed.

    • The robots are only to be operated while a appointed chaperone is present with you in the robot room.

    • The robots can only be operated while the Tech Lab is open during normal hours. There are no exceptions to this rule.

    • Students must operate the robot in manual mode, not automatic mode. Manual mode means the student has to physically hold down the safety buttons on the teach pendant. Automatic mode can be extremely dangerous when running untested programs and therefore is prohibited.

    • The student should remain outside of the reach of the robots while operating the arms.

    Steps toward certification

Email TRIG@utexas.edu, cc your instructor, explain your project and we will set up a time to discuss training options and access.
