TEAL and ECOS Setup

Before applying to The Professional Development Sequence (PDS), Art Education/VAS majors must first create a TEAL (TEA login) account with the Texas Education Agency.

IMPORTANT: Be sure to record your TEAL number and password in a safe place because you will need this information throughout your career in order to access your teacher certification records on the Educator Certification Online System (ECOS) at the Texas Education Agency.

To Create Your TEAL and ECOS Accounts:

1. Go to tea.texas.gov and select ECOS for Educators at the top of page. On the next screen, click Create new TEAL account.
2. Enter the required information on the TEAL profile page. You must enter the name in your TEAL profile as it exists on your Texas Driver's License/State ID card and on your Educator Certification. Do not use nicknames or other variations. If your name does not match EXACTLY, you will not be able to log in to your Educator account or register for required tests.
3. Complete your user information, making sure to select Educator as your organization type.
4. You will be prompted to enter your social security number to verify your account. If you do not have a social security number, follow the instructions during the setup process to request a temporary file number.
5. You will then be required to create a new password and set up security questions.
6. Click on the blue View My Educator Certification Account link to complete your educator profile in your ECOS account.
7. Click on Continue at the bottom of the page to save your information.
8. Congratulations! You have set up your TEAL and ECOS accounts.
