Below are your job expectations for the semester. Please remember that employment each semester is determined by your performance.
Work Schedule / Work Study
1) You and your team members are responsible for staffing the administrative office between the hours of Main Office between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through - Friday, and the
Drop In Tutoring desk -in Tutoring Center between 11am and 10pm Monday - Thursday 11am-10pm, Friday 11am -and 3pm Friday, and 5pm and 10pm Sunday 5-10pmnights.
2) You are responsible for knowing the amount of your work study award and tracking your earnings on the Work Study Balance Sheet throughout the semester so as not to exceed your award limit before the end of the semester. If at any point you are concerned you may exceed the amount of your award, let your supervisor know immediately. If you maintain 12 hours/week you are on track to fulfill your entire work study award.3)
3) The schedule is set at the beginning of the semester and you are expected to work your shifts weekly. We understand that conflicts can sometimes come up but should be avoided whenever possible. You are responsible for finding coverage for your own shifts in times of absence, but you must never go over 12 15 hours of work per week (Work Study Award policyMonday – Sunday). If If you know you need a shift covered due to illness or conflict, please do the following:
- Send a GroupMe message or email an email and/or GroupMe well in advance to all of your colleagues
- Once you receive a reply, confirm with the individual if you are going to swap shifts or if they will cover for you. If possible, swap shifts to keep hours balanced among team members.Once
- someone has replied, send a message to your supervisor to confirm the shift coverageYou must email your supervisor asking for approval for any planned shift changes by the Friday the week prior.
- Be sure to let the entire group know that the shift has been covered.
- If no one can cover your shift , or if it is a true emergency, it is your responsibility to contact email or call your supervisor (at work between 8am - 5pm; by email/groupme if needed outside of business)) with as much notice as possible. If you don’t cannot reach heryour supervisor, be sure to leave a message to explain the nature of the emergency shift coverage issue.

Employee Guidelines
1) You are expected to adhere to Sanger Center rules, policies, and procedures.
2) 1) You are responsible for keeping an honest track of your hours and recording your hours accurately on your timesheet online through UT Direct. Be sure to include any changes or late arrivals each week. Timesheets are due at your last shift of each pay period. A full list of payroll deadlines can be found on your Student Associate Wiki page. Failure to report your time by the deadline will cause delays in receiving pay. Late time reports are processed only once per month.
General Employee Guidelines
1) You are expected to check and reply to job-related email, phone calls, and chats in a timely manner.
32) You are expected to respect strict confidentiality of all student information (except with supervisors).
43) When students guests enter the office, you are expected to stop other activities and conversations, make eye contact, and welcome them & ask if how you can help them.
54) You are expected to check the updates spiral and the daily shift tasks. You can also check with your supervisor to see if there is anything else you could help with. 6) ensure that the Daily Duties and the projects in the Google Doc have been completed each shift.
5) You are the professional representatives of the main office of the Sanger Learning Center in the School of Undergraduate Studies. Please consider take care to respect the following:
- Leaving the desk: never leave JES A332A or DIT totally unattended to go to the restroom, take a personal call, or go to other floors on an errand without first finding someone else who is able to cover for you.
- Eating: try to avoid eating at the desk. If there is truly no other time for you to eat, please be discreet.
- Computer use: computers and printers are intended for work purposes. If there are no down time tasks to be done, you may discreetly use the Internet as long as it doesn’t interfere with either immediate customer service or productivity. You should ALWAYS check the downtime tasks box, and with Claire before assuming there is no work to be done. Not surprisingly, we would rather see you study than facebook! However, do NOT Please remember that personal laptop use is not permitted.
- Studying: You are permitted to study at the desk when there are not outstanding tasks. Please do not count on having time to study at work. If you have a big test to study for, please find someone to cover your shift!Audio: audio , administrative tasks take precedence over homework.
- Audio: Please refrain from using it at the desk, it can be heard by others trying to work in the office. Please refrain from listening to audio (computer, radio, or videos with audio. Please also refrain from wearing earbuds. Cell phone: Cell phone use is working. Headphones are not permitted.
- Personal Phone Calls/Phone Use: Cell phone calls are a personal activity and should not be done at during your work hours except in cases of true emergency. If this should happen, you may please have your colleague or a staff member cover for you while you step outside of the office to take the call. Texting : Texting is also a personal activity. It’s allowed in moderation as long as it doesn’t interfere either with immediate customer service or work productivity.
- Sleeping is not acceptable.
- Dress Code: Our dress code is “covered casual.” This means no exposed mid-drifts, short shorts, workout clothes, sagging pantspajamas, etc. Remember you are representing The Sanger Learning Center, so please dress appropriately.

You are responsible for recording your hours accurately through UT Direct. Timesheets are due on the 15th and 30th of every month. It is recommended that you fill in your time sheet at the end of every shift to insure accuracy.
