For students starting fall 2016 and later
- Form dissertation committee in consultation with supervisor and set date and location for oral exam two 2-3 months in advance
- Give research proposal to committee at least one week 2 weeks prior to oral exam, for review
- Submit Chemical Engineering Candidacy Examination + Rubric Form electronically to the graduate coordinator at least one week prior to the exam for approval by the graduate advisor
- Prepare oral exam presentation following the time requirements above
- Bring printed Chemical Engineering Candidacy Examination Form signed by graduate advisor

- No food allowed starting January 2018
- Submit completed form to the graduate coordinator
- Complete online application to candidacy on the Graduate School website
- Register for -99R, and the next semester register for -99W (Beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, you will only need to register for *99W courses; the *99R will be retired)W
- Continue to register for -99W every semester, including the semester you graduate
