Be sure to press the LAPTOP button on this screen.  

There are three ways to connect your laptop

  • HDMI w/ mini Plug Audio (analog)
  • HDMI w/ Digital Audio (embedded audio) - RECOMMENDED
  • Wireless Presentation (AirPlay for Mac and iOS users)

Press the corresponding button on the screen to choose how you are connected.

Locate Cables

Locate the cable bundle on top of the desk. This cable bundle contains an HDMI connection , a VGA connection, for audio and video, and a 1/8" mini audio plug for analog audio.

Connect Cables

Your Laptop should have a female VGA port on it. Different Apple brand laptops use various video adapters. If you do not have that adapter you check one out from technology services (see below).

The male audio cable goes where you insert your headphones.

Adjust Laptop Settings

Set your laptop resolution to one of the following

  • 1920x1080 60p
  • 1280x720 60p
  • 1024x768 @ 60Hz.

If using analog audio set the volume control on your Laptop to the maximum level.

There are three ways to connect your laptop

Touch the screen to wake the system up and choose                          
LAPTOP as the source.

Choose the input method that corresponds to the cables                     
that you used to connect your laptop.

MAC USERS ONLY

If your laptop has an HDMI port or was manufactured after April 2010 follow the steps below.

If you do not see Crestron (HDMI) as an option under the output tab,  you will need to use the Mini Plug Audio for your sound.

Direct HDMI Connection



If your laptop has an HDMI port you will use this port and cable.  Plug the HDMI cable on the desk directly into the HDMI port on your laptop.  

NOTE: you may have to disconnect the HDMI to USB-C adapter that is attached to the HDMI cable.

HDMI to USB-C Adapter Connection


If your laptop only has USB-C, or doesn't have a HDMI port, you can use the HDMI to USB-C adapter that is attached to the cable on the desk. 


If you do not have the correct inputs on your laptop to plug in the HDMI to USB-C adapter, please contact the Help Desk (512-471-1199) in CMA 3.104.

The mini audio plug is used for audio only.  If your computer's sound doesn't work when using the HDMI cable you can plug the mini audio cable into the headphone jack on your laptop and choose one of the options on the touch panel with the mini audio cable. 


  



If you have never used your laptop in one of our Moody classrooms, you will need to set the OUTPUT of the laptop to CRESTRON.

How to change the Audio Output on your Mac laptop

You will only need to change this setting the very first time you connect your laptop to a classroom AV system

Click on the Apple icon and 
go down to System

Preferences

Settings

From the Hardware menu choose Sound

Click on the Output tab and choose 
Crestron for sound output

Click on SOUND from the left side menu.


Under the Output & Input section:

choose Output and click on Crestron


This will send your laptop's audio to the speakers in the room.
