When you plan to add map content to the DAMS, please consider first if the content is also suitable for adding it to UT Libraries' GeoData portal. Consult with Katherine Strickland or Shensky, Michael G about the options and the possible workflows. If you decide that you want to add a digitized map to the GeoData Portal, even at a later point in time, it is necessary to include a note with a unique GeoData identifier in your DAMS MODS metadata. This unique identifier is generated according to a set of rules laid out on the following page:

Formula for Generating Unique File Names/GeoData Portal IDs

A login with your UT EID is required to access the page. Please submit a LITS service request if you don't have access the the page even after login.

We recommend to add the GeoData Portal ID in the following way when doing a batch ingest:

DAMS MODS
<note type="utlGeoDataID">archiveorcollection__subcollection__seriesname_seriesid__scale__oclc__datasetname</note>

Since the GeoData Portal ID is for internal use, the Collections portal will not display the identifier information.
