Notes

  • Carson
    • Created a wiki page about DPLA's guidelines for descriptive metadata for aggregate objects (https://docs.google.com/document/d/16r_px4GajLIOZMlyXyN0pJFfWpstJIKxHF3brgM4YOo/edit)
    • In file structure, a register for example will be an intellectual object with an identifier that will point to a location in the file system
    • Discussion of "inheritance" of metadata going down hierarchy/collection structure
    • Compliance profile for different anticipated types of restrictions/access (a reference structure) need to be created so that objects can be pointed to
    • Ummil: what is our authoritative file structure? He would like to not need to rely on a particular folder structure --> since each file is uniquely named, they can all be stored flattened in server; Carson notes that this structure will help with migration
    • Next step is set up of properties (DACS, EAD); content, creator, genre, etc.
  • Nitin
    • Reorganized series 1, subseries 2
    • Unmil resolves issue of intellectual objects that have names containing symbols such as commas, ampersands, etc.
  • Unmil
    • Creation of a wiki page on what preservation events should be tracked
    • Discussion about what activities should be recorded - chain of custody versus actions taken to originals, migration versus copying
