About
The Workshop is TIW's multipurpose "Wood Shop," designed for projects on softer materials such as acrylic, soft metals, and wood. While there is a museum of tools to offer in the Workshop, that tools of interest are a Drill Press, Band Saw, Electric Hand Tools, and work tables. You must get Workshop Training to get access to this lab- the training covers all of the machines in the room, so individual training is not required. Sign up for Workshop Training on Safety Spot.
Two people in the room and safety glasses on, closed toed shoes, pulled back hair, and long pants are REQUIRED AT ALL TIMES. If you do not have a buddy with you, ask a staff member to come in the room with you.

Band Saw TRAINING REQUIRED
About
The band saw can host a series of blades with different thicknesses and sizes of the teeth better suited to cut certain materials. You can cut any type of wood on the band saw and possibly some soft metal if you speak with staff and make sure everything is correct. The band saw is attached to a filter and there is a shop vacuum nearby to clean up particles. There are two ways to guide your material through the band saw: fencing and miter jig (which allows you to cut along an angle). Access
Workshop training covers how to use the bandsaw. Once you've completed training, you will get access to the room and are allowed to work in there whenever TIW is open given that there is a second trained person in there with you or a staff member is there to supervise
Cost
This machine is free to use for Research, Class, and Engineering Student Organizations but you need to bring in your own material.
