This is a guide for setting up your machine to configure the motor controller. 

Necessary Hardware:

  • Motor Controller
  • CANdapter
  • Computer with USB port
  • 12V Power Supply
  • Multimeter

Necessary Software:

  • Prohelion Profinity CAN analysis software
    • After downloading the installer, turn off Wi-Fi before running the installer
    • Verify that the version is 1.12.4.4 by clicking the "About" option after running the software
    • After verifying the software version, you can re-enable Wi-Fi
  • CANdapter driver

Set-up Procedure:

  1. Install the necessary software
  2. Plug in the CANdapter to your Computer
  3. Turn on the Power Supply to 12V
    1. Verify the voltage via the multimeter
  4. Turn off Power Supply
  5. According to the Motor Controller Datasheet:
    1. Plug in the CAN High and CAN Low wires from the CANdapter
    2. Plug in the Power and Ground wires from the Power Supply
    3. Unplug anything plugged into CAN Out
  6. Turn on the Power Supply to 12V

Software Set-up and Use

  1. Open the Profinity Software
    1. On first set-up:
      1. Click "CAN Adapters" and add the one that automatically appears
      2. Add "Prohelion Virtual CAN to Ethernet Bridge"
      3. Click "Add Device" and select "WaveSculptor22" from the "Motor Controllers" section
      4. Click on the CANdapter and change the "Candapter BaudRate" setting to "CAN_BAUD_125K"
      5. Click on the WaveSculptor22 and change the "Base Address" setting to "0x240"
    2. When connected to the Motor Controller, the indicator lights on the CANdapter, Prohelion Virtual CAN Adapter & Hub, and WaveScultor22 should be green
    3. Right-click on the WaveSculptor22 and select "Setup and Configuration"
    4. You can now modify the fields in the different tabs as you see fit
