Feature Class

data set; collections of common objects or items, each having the same spatial representation, such as points, lines, or polygons, and a common set of attribute columns. The four most commonly used feature classes are points, lines, polygons, and annotation.
Examples:
Point feature class for representing the location of a door
Line feature class for representing road centerlines
Polygon feature class for representing building area.
