Tuition and Waiver Info for Student Employees

If you are working 20 hours a week as a GRA or TA in a semester, you will need to follow the links below to claim your waivers for the semester. This must be done each semester you work.

In-State Tuition Waiver: If you are a non-resident student employee you will need to claim the employment waiver. This waiver will automatically bring your tuition rates down to in-state rates. The "real world" effect of this is that your tuition bill is cut in half, a very nice benefit :)

Health Insurance Waiver: If you are an international student employee you will also need to claim the health insurance waiver. An element of being an international student is that you HAVE to have health insurance, and if you didn't, UT would buy it for you and charge you for it. As a TA/GRA, your health insurance is paid for, and thus, you can waive the extra cost.

Confirm Registration: After you have done all the waivers, and your tuition is processed, there is still the MOST important step of confirming your registration in the UT system.

Once your tuition billing balance is changed to zero, go to your My Tuition Bill page and click “confirm attendance” to secure your registration.

◦This part, highlighted in green above, is CRUCIAL. If you do not do this step, you get dropped from all your courses AND they charge you to enroll again. We try to avoid this at all costs, which is why I have highlighted everything in this bright green :)
