Responsibility and Respect
Data on PLUS effectiveness
We collect attendance data and do grade correlations for every supported course. In general, students who attend 3 or more study groups are significantly more likely to earn an A and are significantly less likely to D/F/Q/W than non-attendees. This effect is not seen in every supported course. Correlations are confounded by the self-selection bias that exists in a voluntary program; students who choose to attend and/or lead study groups are probably the same students who engage in other behaviors that contribute to academic success.
That being said, study group leaders and attendees report benefits such as improved communication skills, improved ability to evaluate their own level of understanding, more time spent studying and a more strategic approach to studying in general.
